EASTERN CREEK INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY. May 18/19 2002. Round 3.

 

Qualifying:

David Butler #93, Ducati 955 Special, put the team on the front row for the third time in the series. (P 3). Times were ‘fast’, with Craig McMartin #1 Ducati 998 S, doing a ‘37’, to be on pole.

 

Racing:

Overall the Team had three bikes in the top six, Hinton #3 Ducati 998 S, improving his gap in second place, for the championship. " The bike is brand new, and I did 3 consecutive personal bests, on it, so I’m happy" said Pete. John Lyons #88 Ducati 996 SPS chased ‘set up’ all weekend, but got it right in time for the last race. "I just want to go to Queensland and have a serious go!", he said, "I’ve been hamstrung all weekend and can’t wait" "Li’l" David Butler, had a blinder of a weekend, culminating in a 36.55, and second overall for the meeting. "I hope I can keep it going", he said "thank you again for all the support I’ve had this weekend". Butler staged an amazing charge at series leader McMartin, at turn 12 in race 3, but the wiley champ responded as the crowd went bananas!
