Press Release
WINTON RACEWAY, Victoria. April 13/14. 2002.
Qualifying:
The "Lithgow Flash" 21 y.o. David Butler, #93 Ducati 955 Special, swept all before him, to put the team on pole for the second meeting in a row. "I had to do my very best" he said, "the sponsors said they might be able to help me, and "Aunty" Mal, said go for it, so here we are", beamed the new acquisition. "Lil David", as he is known in the team had the factory Ducati, and Aprilia bikes behind him, as well as his eminent team mates Peter Hinton and John Lyons, on row two.
Racing:
In race 1, John Lyons #88 Ducati 996 SPS lead for the first 4 laps as the rain poured down, but McMartin blasted past for the win, Lyons second. In race 2, Butler lead before the inevitable pass from McMartin #1 996 SPS "Lil" David then fell to earth dislocating his shoulder, and re-locating it painfully, "so I can get back out there". In a weekend characterised by crashes, Peter Hinton #3 Ducati 996 "Super" Strada, consolidated his position, elevating himself to 2nd in the overall points table. "Its a long season", he said, "Were happy to be second, and Ill be doing all I can to catch Craig", he smiled. "Aunty" Mal, Team Manager.
