This is the third "new" six hour the Bears have
contested. We feel our team has always striven for ideals that mean a great deal to our
members, be they racing riders or helpers.
"This is a wonderful opportunity, but like all
privileges it carries an awesome responsibility. We take this as part of the challenge
after all, we have support, in the form of sponsors, clubmates, our wonderful riders and a
degree of dedication in our team that can only be understood by using the word
PASSION." said Mal Cherlin Team Manager.
Our preparation so far has been just great, the riders
love the bike, it has sold two other SSs without turning a wheel in anger. The tyres
are wonderful and every time we test we go faster. We have completed more than a total 6
Hour in practice already. We're not complacent, we have competitors who have up to 60% and
more power. Some will run race tyres , and that means they can use full wet racing rubber
if it rains. No matter . It's a long race .
Our pit stops will be choreographed by Red
Whitaker. Red has a 100% finishing record with his Six Hour bikes - a 600
Pantah in 82 & 83, a 650 in 84, a class winner in 97, 3rd place Pro
Superbike last year. Red is a core element in our team.
Is it an exaggeration to say the BEARS have brought
Ducati, Castrol, Michelin and a number of other non-trade related sponsors to this
wonderful event? Certainly, we could not do what we do without support from the media and
our sponsors. It's another crucial element, and whilst we may be newsworthy,
we would like to recognize the
contribution made by all of you, and thank you for helping.
It is invaluable. We are a club team, after all.
Our goal is to win; if we can't, to win our class;
if we can't, to do more laps than last year, and so on. We will always strive to perform
with tenacity, courage, skill, sportsmanship, and professionalism, and to live up to the
faith placed in us by our club, our team mates, and our sponsors.
